Primeiros europeus no Cambodja

"The first European to record his visit to Cambodia and his travel on the Mekong was the Portuguese Dominican missionary Father Gaspar da Cruz. He reached the Cambodian capital at Lovek, a little north of Phnom Penh, in 1555 and remained there until 1557. An account of his experiences was published twelve years later in his homeland. Da Cruz makes clear that he was not the first of his countrymen to make this journey, for he notes that a group of Portuguese had earlier been the cause of "troubles" in the country.
