Lao PDR is the most heavily bombed nation in the world per capita. At least two million tonnes of ordnance was dropped on the country between 1964 and 1973. It is estimated that up to 30 per cent of this did not detonate. Decades later, unexploded ordnance still contaminates rural areas in half the country, killing, injuring and keeping people in poverty by preventing them from using land.* taken from MAG
This is trail determined by small with and red rocks showing people which area has been cleared. Xienkouang region and the plains of jars ( on this photo ) are part of the most bombed region in Laos with HO CHI MIN trail.
